The title refers both to frontline healthcare workers, who endured traumatic stress as they risked their lives and that of their relatives to save others’, and to the mothers who, linking arms and risking injury, stood in a line between protesters and the police during Black Lives Matter protests in Portland, Oregon hoping their presence and their standing as mothers would help protect BLM protesters from police violence.
