This title refers to the fact that many reported becoming addicted to online shopping during the pandemic, which psychologists attribute to the ingrained human tendency to turn to objects to help compensate for unmet needs, with ‘retail therapy’ offering an escape from uncomfortable feelings, a momentary lift in mood, and a restored sense of control. The number in the subtitle, generally regarded as a lucky one in our culture, is used here to highlight the fact that anyone with an income in a time during which so many lost theirs is quite fortunate, particularly so if said income allows for indulging in delivery fees, and even more so if said indulgence can be frequent enough to become an addiction of sorts.
